What is a life path number and how do you calculate it?

In Pythagorean numerology, the life path number summarizes your date of birth. You reduce the month, day and year separately and then add the results.

Step-by-step example

Born May 15, 1990: the month is 5; the day 15 reduces to 1 + 5 = 6; the year 1990 reduces to 19, then 10, then 1. The sum 5 + 6 + 1 = 12 reduces to 3.

Master numbers

If 11, 22 or 33 appears along the way, tradition keeps it unreduced and calls it a master number.
